Ringtones
There are three kinds of ringtones: Monophonic, Polyphonic, and 'Music Ringtones'.
Monophonic Ringtones are short simple tunes, only one tone can be played at a time. Early mobile phones used these so that people could
differentiate their phone ringing from other peoples phones.
Polyphonic Ringtones allows multiple notes to be played at the same time, up to 128 individual notes that sound like different musical instruments can
be played at the same time, giving your phone's ringtone a more realistic sound.
Music Ringtones is a new version of ringtones. It is also called realtones, songtones, voice tones, or true tones.
It uses an actual piece of music, so you can hear all of the lyrics and background music as well. Music Ringtones are usually stored in
MP3, WAV, or WMA formats but can also be found as AAC, QCP, or AMR files. The newly released phones often have this feature.
Ringtones have become a way to personalize your phone, it is much more than just differentiating its ring, its a way to
customize your phone, to mark it as yours, and have it show some of your own personal style.
